Scarlett’s Friends

Scarlett's invitation

Hay! You wanna be my friend?

My name is Scarlett and I have been chosen as the spokes-horse for all of us who live  here at Linn County Animal Rescue (the two-legged folks also call it LCAR).

Now I’m what’s called a “senior” horse and because of that, I have a lot of special responsibilities here at the barn.

We seniors help by becoming friends with the newly rescued horses. They’re pretty scared when they first get here, and sometimes they’re just not used to being treated good by humans. So we show them they’re safe now and with good friends and caring humans.

We also get to help the young people who volunteer here at LCAR. We help them learn how to take care of a horse and how to become responsible horse owners. We know any horses they have in the future will have good, loving homes, and we won’t be seeing them here.

Now as the spokes-horse, my main job is to tell you about what we do and then ask for your support so the good two-leggeds here can continue to help all the horses that come to our barn – now, and in the future.

(And, just so you know, we seniors do need a little extra help to keep us in senior grain – it’s special for our old teeth – and to pay for the special medicines some of us need to keep our older bodies healthy.)

So I’m here to ask you to help us older horses, and all the younger ones too. You know, it’s really heartbreaking cuz some of them come to us in really bad shape. They definitely need extra special care as well as medicines and help from our favorite friends, the vets and farriers.

Now, I want you to understand that the folks here do a great job loving us and caring for us. They just can’t do it all alone.

You could provide that extra help!

You can help make sure that all of us here at the barn have what we need to get and stay healthy.

Yes, siree!

And as the spokes-horse, I’m asking you to become one of my very best Friends, and contribute an amount every month to help me (and my buddies) have a healthy and secure life here at the barn.

It’s easy to do, and we’ve even set up some categories that will work for most anyone.

All you have to do is select the option that’s right for you from the choices in the drop down menu. (There’s Helper at $5.00/month, Friend at $10.00/month, Guardian at $25/month and Benefactor at $50/month.)

Then click on my face in the feed bucket and you’ll be taken right to PayPal where you can pay with a credit card or your PayPal account.

Then every month your donation is automatically taken care of for you – and you’ll have my everlasting gratitude. (And I’ll know I did a good job! Whoopee!)

Thanks for helping us out!!

Much love,

Scarlett

P.S.  I hear the folks at LCAR are hoping to get me 500 Friends. Wowee – that would sure be something!

Please, become my Friend today – you’ll make me the happiest old horse around.
